Published reports tell that the closure is due to pollution.
Seems to be a gimmick.
Another fact is that the mother plant of SPIC situated in Tuticorin was closed a few months back.
It seems that these closures had happened due to administrative reasons rather than the pollution angle.

Any factory management looses more if it shuts down after giving administrative reasons, which results in paying settlement to its employees.
If a closure is made by trumpeting the pollution facts there is minimal loss to the company.

Alas if a factory in SIPCOT is to be closed due to non-compliance of pollution then 90% of the factory would have been closed.
